The #1 Fruit to Eat for Gut Health, According to a New Study

Grapes

Who knew such a small fruit could accomplish so much?

The state of your gut is more significant than you may imagine. Your gut not only aids in the battle against sickness and illness, but it also communicates with your brain to aid in the overall health of your body.

Not only that, but if your gut isn't in good shape, it can lead to a lot of pain and discomfort in your stomach and intestines.

Fortunately, getting adequate sleep, exercising, lowering stress as much as possible, and eating the right foods can all assist your gut.

Many experts are constantly looking into whether foods can have a favourable impact on your stomach, and grapes, according to a new UCLA study, can be incredibly beneficial to your gut health.

Grapes have been shown to help with various health issues, including better sleep, colon health, and even chemotherapy symptoms. Grapes may also have a good influence on the gut microbiome, cholesterol, and bile acid levels, according to a new study published in the journal Nutrients.

Grapes' high fiber content and polyphenols called catechins are responsible for many of its health advantages. Catechins are recognized for their anti-inflammatory properties, but they can also help promote good bacteria in the gut and maintain a healthy flora balance.

Participants in this UCLA trial ate 46 grams of grape powder per day, about two servings of real grapes. Not only was there a 5.9% decrease in LDL cholesterol ("bad") after four weeks, but the variety of the patients' gut microbiota also increased dramatically.

According to UCLA, your gut health is crucial to your general health, and "altered" gut microbiota has been linked to metabolic illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity. An unbalanced gut can also cause stomach discomfort and irritable bowel illness, according to a Nature article.

On the other hand, your immune system may grow and function correctly with healthy and diversified gut microbiota, boosting your protection from sickness.

This new study found that drinking grapes or grape powder have positive benefits on your gut microbiome and general health. Although this study is fresh and more research is needed, you can safely add grapes to your following grocery list and reap the benefits of their gut-healthy properties!
